Instead of balancing the budget on time, the Republicans wouldn't budge on their stance and neither would the Democrats. Instead of putting aside their political agendas and differences for the good of the people (yeah, remember us--the constituents who voted you folks into your cushy offices??)... instead of doing what was necessary and right for their constituents, they fought and bickered and 85 days after their budget was due, they finally came up with a "budget" and Arnold signed it. They all said it was not a good budget but they did it and he signed it.
Here we are just a couple of months later and it's being put upon the backs of the state workers (and ultimately all of the folks who live in California) to dig California out of its budgetary nightmare. All because politicians who are paid to do their job (like balance the budget on time) did not do their job, nor did they do the job well.
More people are losing their jobs, their homes, their hope... because of the half-***** job these politicians did with their so-called budget.
Here are my solutions:
- Cut all the politicians' pay by 15%, then
- FIRE EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM
When will these legislators be held accountable for their negligence? Who do they answer to?
They answer to their constituents. If you live in this state and you pay taxes, you have every right to call your elected officials and voice your disgust at their negligence and let them know you will remember on election day... you will not vote for them again.
I hate politics. I hate the red tape and bureaucracy that we are subject to in this state. I am sick to death of the bickering and finger-pointing; the blame-shifting and rhetoric that fly so quickly out of the mouths of politicians. Actions speak louder than words.
It's well past time for these politicians to take action on this fiscal crisis that they had a hand in creating and perpetuating, by virtue of their lack of due diligence in their pivotal roles in this shambles of a government.
California legislators, you should be ashamed of yourselves for what you've done to this state by your inaction and selfish mentality. You have not earned the salary you are being paid. If you were men and women of integrity and honor, you would voluntarily cut back your own salaries. But since you are politicians, I am sad to say that I don't believe that will ever happen.
I honestly don't know how you can sleep at night or look any of your constituents in the eye.
That's all for now.
